DIY Halloween candle holder in a recycled tin can

Materials and tools needed:

  • Empty, clean, and dry cans
  • Acrylic paint (can be spray paint) and brush
  • Indelible marker
  • Candles

How to do:

1.  First, repaint your cans of orange paint using either a paintbrush and acrylic paint or spray paint. Allow to dry well on a surface protected with newspaper and, if necessary, repaint with an additional coat of paint. To hurry up the drying method, think of using a hairdryer.

2.  Using a marker, draw a jack-o’-lantern pattern. Avoid pressing excessively to avoid chipping the paint. If this happens to you, take a fine-tipped paintbrush and cover the defect with paint. Or, replace the black paint marker still applied using a fine-tipped brush. In both cases, start by marking the pattern with a pencil and cool drawing ideas.

3.  Place a candle inside, and here is a pretty decoration for your successful Halloween party.

Materials and tools needed:

  • Glass jars
  • Candles
  • DIY glue / glue varnish
  • Acrylic paint (various colors)
  • Sponge brush or other brush you have on hand
  • Paper plate / cup / muffin boxes
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Halloween themed stickers (optional)
  • Black indelible marker

How to do:

1.  Decide on paint colors to repaint the inside of the glass jar (in this case: orange, red and purple). If necessary, mix paint colors to obtain the desired shades. Then mix the paint with glue (1: 1 ratio).

2.  Repaint the inside of the glass jar of paint starting at the bottom and then color the sides. For these, proceed carefully, rotating the glass jar when applying the paint with brushstrokes. Paint a thin layer. In case of too obvious strokes of paint after drying, paint a new layer always thin.

3.  Let the glass jars dry by setting them on their side. Turn from time to time to avoid dripping paint.

4.  Paint Halloween patterns on the glass jar. For this purpose, first, insert a candle inside to choose a well-lit location for the Halloween figures. Next, make a pilot drawing using an indelible marker and then repeat over it with black paint.
